The Invention Of PC Viruses

Innovations were always there and they will be as long as there are some initiative individuals those who can take the courage to invent something by adding brilliant and useful things into existence, the world we live to day has examined really challenging situations classified as dead ends but as a grace of Allah the almighty and extraordinary efforts made by scientists, professors, engineers, and skillful innovative individuals humanity passed through those painful situations.

From that you see innovation is must and inventions should take place. Back days when humanity crossed the stone age bridge and came into the modern life the establishment of electrical tools and instruments including motors, cars, telecommunication equipments, and computers was really the needed invention, since that day engineers and developers was enhancing these tools to make them more helpful and easily understood people-users-to facilitate their daily lives, probably engineers succeeded to do so because at least they built powerful micro computers fast enough to run huge processes in a single millisecond.

That was about the old era when engineers and developers focused on the hardware part of the computers, but nowadays software development inventions are every where, but let's come to the point and give a glance to topic of the article 'The Invention Of PC Viruses'. and most importantly who invented first PC virus? why and when?.

Brain is the industry standard name for a computer virus released January 1986, and is considered to be the first computer virus for MS-DOS. It infects the boot sector of storage media formatted with the DOS File Allocation Table(FAT) file system. Brain was written by two brothers Basit Farooq Alvi and Amjad Farooq Alvi from Lahore Pakistan.

Brain affects the IBM PC computer by replacing the boot sector of a floppy disk with a copy of the virus. The real boot sector is moved to an other sector and marked as bad, Infected disks usually have five kilobytes of bad sectors, the disk label is changed to brain, and the following text can be seen in infected boot sector.

Several variants of the virus are known but most of them are fairly harmless, in fact people know less about this virus invention because this virus is no longer harmful due to the   amazing antiviruses security corporations invented because it can can be easily detected and and removed by any antivirus.
